Normally the back teeth, especially molars, have deep grooves which are known as pits & fissures. These pits & fissures are generally deep in kid’s teeth but with age become shallow. It can be difficult to remove all food particles from these depressions and grooves. Hence the food gets stuck more in kid’s teeth leading to decay. 

This situation can be prevented by placing fillings known as pit & fissure sealants. The purpose of sealants is not to replace the oral care routine of twice-daily tooth brushing and daily flossing but to provide an extra layer of protection to these deep depressions                                                       on teeth. Sealants usually last for several years before you need a reapplication, but you should still visit your dentist regularly for a professional cleaning and evaluation to ensure good oral health.

We were invited to make kids aware of importance of good oral hygiene as well as brushing techniques in KID’S SUMMER CAMP organized by Times of India. We were also requested to conduct dental check up for the participating kid’s from age group 3 years to 12 years. The program was for 2 days in British School and Northridge School, on 11th June 12, 2014 and 12th June 2014 respectively. In both the schools the program went for 2 hours each.
Dr. Vijita Mehta from The DENTAL ARCADE made kids aware of proper brushing techniques and about importance of healthy eating habits which was followed by dental check up of all the participating kid’s, all the kids got there check up done very enthusiastically.

Around 80 kid’s participated from both the school in fun filled dental interaction. Most of the kid’s wer   e more than happy to show there brushing techniques on the model carried by the staff. This interaction was huge success with kids being eager to share their newly acquired brushing skill with their parents after returning home from camp.
In future we would love to participate more frequently in such kind of camps. This was a great experience for our team from The Dental Arcade. The energy and smiles of cute kids was infectious.
